How do you chill? Music stimulates my most profound meditative states. Electronic journeys thrust me into the deepest realms of thought, but when I want to turn my mind off, I lose myself in the poetry of others.

It’s the days where I can’t seem to get the song out of my head that always play out best. Those words don’t just flow through the clutter behind my eyes, they travel through my heart and soul, allowing my entire body to function with the greatest of ease.

Most people connect with the vocal aspect of a track, especially if they’re not necessarily a music connoisseur. I don’t know how anyone can resist the sensual lyrics of the Sofi Tukker double play of “Brazilian Soul” and “Cry For You.” From the island beach to the warm studio, you can enjoy the ride by simply closing your eyes and soaking in the sweet sound of Sophie Hawley-Weld’s voice.

I also want to mention California’s The Maria’s who’s “I Like It” certainly stands out. My wife and I heard them live at The Mod Club Theatre here in Toronto and it was spectacular. Through their plays on Spotify and other streaming services, the band realized they had amassed an audience on the other side of the continent and were truly amazed and appreciative of the opportunity.

I’m so fortunate you’ve discovered this playlist. However, when you can again, the live experience is the lifeblood of this music. Emotionally, it leaves the most positive impression on our lives. To the artists, our attendance is vital to funding and maintaining the creativity in their’s.
