RDIOgroov v1

A HOUSEish playlist with a little pop, a little funk and whole lot of dance groov. Artists include Franc Moody, Breakbot, Escort, Ofenbach, Moon Boots and Crazy P.

A couple of the series in this collection were born organically through my searches. This is one of them. So often I find a track that I think belongs in one genre bucket, but when I listen to it with the others in a shuffle, it doesn’t quite fit.

Categorizing music has always been a point of contention in the bringthebeats underground, so instead of genres, I decided to organize my repositories by vibe. This playlist became an entire series of tracks that weren’t quite underground, but too unique for straight-up pop. Essentially I thought, what do I want to hear hanging poolside? For the site’s taxonomy purposes, that vibe became barneysHOUSEgroov.

The main goal of this series is to get EVERYBODY on the dance floor! I don’t want it too intense for some or too cheesy for others. “Dance Moves” by Franc Moody lands right in that sweet spot of compromise between the two. By the time Breakbot’s “Devotion” slides on the floor with its modern-day funk and wedding singer tune, I hope EVERYBODY’s locked into the HOUSEgroov.

This is a playlist that can’t be taken all that seriously. Even though they’re all quality productions, they shouldn’t be heard with a critical ear. At least by me they’re not. v1 is about fun and that’s it. Enjoy life as you listen, because I certainly did as I put it together.
