A playlist that encourages kids to live and love their generation of music... adults too! Artists include Foster the People, Cedric Gervais, Lorde, Dua Lipa, Gilligan Moss and The Weeknd.

I find it crazy when I hear kids say their favourite band is KISS. Come on! What that means to me, is their parents are force feeding their generation of music on a new generation. Kids should discover their own artists, style and feelings toward music and there’s no reason adults can’t be a part of that process too.

It’s probably easier for me than other parents, as I love dance music and pop has always trended in that direction. Especially today, with electronic sounds and DJ culture so entrenched in the mainstream, I’m happy to play this playlist anytime, anywhere. These are songs we can connect with as a family and that’s priceless to me.

I honestly don’t know an artist’s popularity until I build these pages. Of course, I know Spotify’s algorithm will suggest popular songs in my pop music repositories, but that doesn’t minimize the shock when I see an artist who I’ve never heard of with over 62 million monthly listeners!

That artist is Duo Lipa and her collaboration with Silk City for “Electricity” is certainly worth all the attention. Combined with the Chromeo remix of Lorde’s “Green Light” and we reach true levels of amazing. This is the positive energy kids should feel when they listen to music created for their world and their independence within it. I just feel so fortunate I can still get down to it too.

2Kgroov are the anthems of this generation, so far. As you might predict, my interpretation is very dance oriented, but in my opinion, the best pop music has always grooved this way. Rediscover your youth and connect with your kids through these super-fun playlists.
